People panic when they see the bread shelves empty. And I get it… crazy sight. But literally, Jesus is the bread of life. If you are a Jesus follower, you’re allowed to have complete trust in the faithfulness of Jesus as your provider. We aren’t called worriers. We are literally called believers!
We are those who believe because we have good reason for hope, joy, faith!
If you’re a believer and are in a place of worry/anxiousness… no shame!! Just realize you are believing some lies that need to get out and be replaced with the truth!
Try this:
Write your worries/lies on a piece of paper.
It will show underlying lies and bring them into the light… it might sound like:
** “God helps those who help themselves”
** “I need to provide for myself-I cannot trust God to provide for my family”
** “Because this sickness feels bigger than Jesus inside of me, it must be!”
Whatever bubbles out of you. Jesus can handle it. Write it down! Really. Try it! (You might be amazed at what’s hiding in there).
Expose the lies for what they are, and then use the GIFT of repentance!
Now, just wait!
Stay with me.
Many people misunderstand what biblical repentance is. If you picture a shame-ridden church goer saying “sorry” over and over, living in constant regret and sorrow… sorry, but that’s not the gift of repentance the Bible talks about!
Repenting is a fancy church word that simply means, “To change the way you think” (thank you Steve backlund). It’s a turning away from a wrong belief, AND turning toward the truth! Literally repent means “to change one’s mind” (https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/Lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?strongs=G3340&t=NASB)
So renew your mind with the truth!
Ask The Holy Spirit, “What is the truth?”
In case you need a jumpstart reminder… here’s some good mind-renewers to anchor to:
** “And my God will supply ALL your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NASB)
** “…greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4 NASB)
** “Be anxious for nothing, but… let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God…WILL guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7 NASB)
** “No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways.” (Psalms 91:10-11 NASB)
Now, take those lies you wrote down and rip them up! Shred them! If you’re a man, burn them (it’s fun). Whatever you do, just don’t keep them.
Then declare the truth of God over your life. His promises are for you! Say them out loud, and watch yourself, “…be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12 NASB)
Anxiety is not for you.
Feast on the bread of life-the Prince of PEACE.
You don’t have to stay the same! God wants to heal our land through the gift of repentance (2 Chron 7:14). God is returning for a glorious bride, not a shame ridden, defeated church. Let’s walk into the truth of our identity, feast on the true bread from heaven, renew our minds with the truth, and experience Gods’ glorious restoration on the earth!

P.S. It’s easy to read something and agree in our intellect, “Yeah, I like that. Good message”… But intellectual agreement doesn’t heal our land. Actually join in repentance! It’s literally a gift of freedom and life for us!
