This week I marvel at the beauty, the magnitude of His love. Rather than stuck in the duty, the rules, the things I should do to “prove” and show Him my love, I am overwhelmed with the realization that —
HIS LOVE FOR ME IS FAR GREATER THAN HIS DESIRE FOR ME TO KEEP HIS COMMANDS.
And that’s the wonder of it all. It’s not what I do for Him that earns His love. When it’s become a checklist of to do’s or morals to live by to prove my love, I’ve completely missed it.
GREATER THAN ME SHOWING MY LOVE FOR HIM WITH MY LIFE IS REALIZING, BASKING IN, HIS COMPLETELY UNDESERVED, UNWAVERING LOVE FOR US.
Somewhere along the way I got stuck in rules and trying to be “good” for Him. And I lost, completely forgot, the wonder of His love. That He just loves us because He loves us. That He showers us, pours out rivers of grace on us because that’s who He is and what He does, and it has nothing to do with what I’ve done.
Love undeserved.
Love unending.
Love overflowing.
Love unconditional.
Love that’s free and just because.
Bask in that for awhile. And be totally amazed, absolutely astonished, completely in love, and totally free.
