It’s very difficult, dare I say impossible, to coalesce a life of hurry and a life of abiding. At their nature, they are 2 different speeds. The Lord can certainly meet you in your hurry, but you will soon outrun him. The culture of heaven can simply not be described as a culture of hurry.

You can go meet Jesus in your hurry, but if you intend to stay with Jesus—to abide—you must match his pace.

Hurry’s normal course disrupts the peaceful pace your inner man was made to carry.

Abiding, moving at the pace of Jesus—these do something to you. They re-shape your beliefs. They require surrender, trust, humility, faith.

…And they give you the peace that surpasses understanding. They lead you with an easy yoke. They put you in situations far bigger than yourself and boldly declare, “I AM with you!”
